Galloway is full of gorse outcrops  as much of the land is poor with shallow soil conditions that is very suitable for the lovely gorse. It is always in bloom here and there, but in all its glory in April and May.

Red Kites are common here, riding the wind tails flicking this way and that - a joy to watch. A pair rose above the bank before me one cold spring day, recorded here.
